All New Hyundai Santa Fe

05 July 2018

HYUNDAI has announced that its new flagship Santa Fe range will cost up to £44,000 when it goes on sale here from September.

The company says that the large seven-seat SUV will continue to be available with a single diesel engine only amid speculation that it will be at least another year before a hybrid option is introduced.

It is expected to be 2020 before the range gets mild hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid alternatives, using either petrol or diesel engines plus batteries.

In the meantime, there will be an upgraded version of the current oil-burner with an optional new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The revamped 2.2-litre engine has reduced emissions whilst maintaining its power output of 200bhp, with torque of 440Nm.

It will be available with front wheel drive or 4WD, with a six-speed manual gearbox or the new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The entry-level two-wheel drive, manual transmission model with standard SE specification will cost £33,425.

Swap the manual gearbox for the automatic transmission and the price rises to £35,425.

Upgrade to Premium trim and equipment and the price increases to £36,995 for the manual and £38,795 for the automatic.

Then come the 4WD versions, at £38,995 for the Premium manual, and £40,795 for the automatic.

At the top of the pile are the luxuriously-equipped Premium SE models, costing £41,795 for the 2WD automatic, and £43,595 for the 4WD version.

These models are also offered with a so-called Burgundy Pack that includes two tone burgundy and black leather seat facings, dashboard trim and a black suede headlining.

Metallic or pearlescent paint adds a further £690.

Currently the most expensive Santa Fe is the Endurance with a sticker price of £39,785, although dealers are now offering this vehicle with £6,000 off, at £33,785.

In its latest guise the Santa Fe introduces an array of new equipment, safety and transmission features over the current car to justify the price rise of up to £3,800.

There is also a revised exterior appearance, dominated by a distinctive honeycomb grille and larger rear side windows to make the vehicle seem more light and airy inside.

Premium models come with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with engine start/stop, LED headlamps, heated steering wheel, electric front seats, leather seat facings and an electrically operated tailgate.

There is also a KRELL sound system with an eight-inch touch screen, and a ten-speaker sound system with navigation. A new feature is Rear Occupancy Alert, which alerts the driver to any occupants, including children or pets that remain in the vehicle when the central locking is operated.

The flagship Premium SE adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats with drivers’ seat position memory function.

There is also Head Up Display, which projects relevant information directly to the driver’s line of sight on to the windscreen, and there is also an around view monitor on automatic models.

All Santa Fe models come with Hyundai’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty, roadside assistance package and 12-year anti corrosion warranty.
